Coaches

The cornerstone of your club will undoubtedly be the coaching staff. The right coaches will not only help build your wrestlers’ technical skills, but also their character.

Tim Hennessey

Started wrestling at the age of 7.  Won midget state titles, placed 3rd in the NJ HS State Tournament.  Earned a wrestling scholarship to Rutgers University where he was Captain of the Scarlet Knights Division 1 Wrestling Team.  He earned 4 varsity letters and earned most valuable and most dedicated awards.  He helped coach his HS alma mater to an amazing 63 match win streak that included the #1 Team in New Jersey, and the #1 ranking in the USA Today as the best high school team in the nation.  Coached several state champs, state place winners, and a Division 1 All American.

 

 

Vas Lahanas

Vas brings a stellar wrestling resume to the students at C2X.  He wrestled in New Jersey, which is one of the toughest wrestling states in the nation.  He was a NJ High School State Champion at Clifton High School  He earned a full Division 1 Wrestling scholarship to the University of Maryland.  During his years at College Park, he placed in several prestigious tournaments, placed 2nd in the ACC Championships and was an NCAA qualifier.  Vas brings skills that translate for both beginners and the most seasoned wrestlers.

 

 

 

Dan Healy

Started wrestling at the age of 12 in Pennsylvania.  Successful middle school and high school career that culminated in becoming a 2X Pennsylvania State Qualifier.  He won many tournament championships while wrestling in Pennsylvania, which is always regarded as one of the toughest wrestling states in the nation.  He wrestled on the collegiate level at Juniata College.

 

 

 

 

Mike Williams

Started wrestling at 3 years old in Plainfield, NJ, and has wrestled ever since.  Mike won several junior state titles in New Jersey before moving to North Carolina at 16. As a junior, Mike reeled off a perfect 48-0 record en route to a NCHSAA state championship. Named to the National High School Coaches All-American team as well, Williams finished his high school career with a 136-8 record. Mike went on to wrestle at UNC- Pembroke, where he was a 3 year captain.  He would finish his collegiate career as a 4x NCAA All-American, the first NCAA National Champion wrestler in school history, and end with a 112-12 career record (90% winning percentage).

 

 

Tom Tanis

Tom Tanis started wrestling at the age of five. He placed second in the state of New Jersey in his junior and senior year .  He was a two-time NCAA Championship qualifier. After falling short at the 2001 NCAA Championship, he battled back the following year, placing fourth at 184 pounds to become the University's first All-American in over 20 years .  The four-year letterwinner (1999-02) placed among the top three at the EIWA Tournament three times, including the 184-pound title in 2001.  Tanis graduated with a four-year mark of 98-31.  Named Intermat's Most Outstanding Wrestler as a senior, he was also the recipient of the 2002 Donald Leslie Coursen Award, given annually to Rutgers' Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year.  From 2005 to 2007, Tanis was the Head Coach for the University of Florida Wrestling club . In 2008, he became the assistant coach for the United States Naval Academy where he spent four years coaching, recruiting and training the Division 1 team who produced multiple all-Americans each year.
